“How to keep it UP-RIGHT” Motorcycle Rider Safety Program – 30th July 2022

July 30, 2022 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm AEST

$50.00

The “How to keep it UP-RIGHT” motorcycle program is a full day face-to-face practical training course, designed to show you how you can maximise your riding enjoyment while minimising your risks. It’s based on our highly successful SMART Rider Roadcraft course and open to riders of all experience levels.

We’ll teach you skills that help you recognise hazards on our roads, and then deliver strategies to reduce – or even eliminate – those risks. We’ll also teach you:

  • how you can improve your control over your motorcycle by understanding some basic vehicle dynamics;
  • why your slow speed skills are so important and how to make them better;
  • how your brain and vision work together to improve your riding;
  • why other road users don’t see you and what you can do about it;
  • how to recognise when one of those “Uh Oh” moments is about to happen, and how to prevent it; and
  • how to choose the best riding gear.

This course is a key component of our SMART Rider training program, and is run in association with the Queensland Police Service with funding from Queensland Transport and Main Roads. The government funding allows us to offer this program to you at the heavily subsidised rate of just $50 per person.

The course consists of:

  • a classroom session that covers common rider errors and how to avoid them – road craft, observation skills and hazard perception, commentary riding and vehicle dynamics, the effect speed has on braking distances and cornering, vision and the reasons why motorcycles are often not seen by other road users;
  • a skills session in an adjoining carpark to sharpen low speed skills; and
  • a mentored road ride under the guidance of our instructors and accompanied by Road Policing Command motorcyclists to provide practical training and feedback.

The courses are run at the Jimboomba State School, in the Logan district, and run from 9am to 4pm.

Why train with us?

If you’ve done any other training with us at the SMART Rider Academy you know we’re very good at delivering a different and very effective approach to motorcycle training.

Our core team all have over 20 years of riding experience (some of us are pushing 40 years – yikes!) and most have 20+ years of experience as instructors. Our team is selected not just on their riding and training capabilities, but more importantly on their attitude and ability to bring out the best in you. You won’t find a huge ego anywhere in our team, and that ensures that you feel comfortable when you’re with us.

Over the last 20 years we’ve worked closely with Queensland Transport and Main Roads, Queensland Police Service, motorcycle clubs, road safety and advisory groups, and delivered training to organisations across Australia and internationally.

We’ve developed a reputation as a source of consistently reliable motorcycle education content and our company was acknowledged with a prestigious international award in 2020 for the “Best Motorcycle Safety Education Platform – Australia”.
