Mount Cotton Training Day – May 2025

May 3, 2025 @ 8:30 am - 3:30 pm AEST

$170.00

Crashing a motorcycle is one of the greatest fears a rider has. And the most common crash we experience is a single vehicle crash caused by the loss of control in a corner.

We all love the thrill of riding and the exhilarating feeling you get when you string a series of corners together perfectly.

But for many riders, the very thing they long for is the very thing that frightens them the most. Cornering!

And when we ask riders what they most want to improve about their riding two things always top the list – cornering skills and braking technique.

So let’s take the fear out of cornering and the panic out of stopping.

AND LET’S MAKE CRASHING NOT AN OPTION!

Our ALL NEW course is guaranteed to build your skills and confidence in these two areas that riders most want help to improve, and transform fear and uncertainty into confidence and enjoyment.

Through a series of carefully crafted discussions and practical activities you will learn:

  • that you can confidently stop a motorbike in a much shorter distance than you thought;
  • how to safely use brakes in a corner; and
  • corner setup and lines that DO give you that exhilarating feeling in corners you’re searching for.

You will also receive personal instruction and mentoring as you lap the circuit with one of our instructors.

Why is this course different to other “cornering” courses?

The course takes elements from our Corner with Confidence and Braking with Confidence courses that have been proven to help riders transform their riding, and combines them with a unique on-track training technique that gives you the best possible way of improving your riding in just one day.

The exercises and teaching system we’ve designed break the whole braking and cornering processes down into steps in a system that make it easy to explain, understand and implement.

About SMART Rider Academy

SMART Rider Academy is a privately owned Australian company established to provide cost-effective training to motorcycle riders that improves their essential roadcraft skills and enjoyment of riding.

With funding support from Queensland Transport and Main Roads, SMART Rider Academy was the first organisation in the private sector to offer subsidised training to the motorcycle community in Queensland and is now the largest provider of post-licence road-based training in the state.

In 2017 SMART Rider Academy partnered with Queensland Police Service to create and deliver the “How to keep it UP-RIGHT” program. This program has now been delivered to over 1,400 riders in South East Queensland and is the model for the new “Ride to Zero” program being offered to clubs and not-for-profit organisations throughout Queensland.

Stephen McDowall, Director and Principal Coach, leads a training team that has worked extensively with motorcycle clubs, road safety and advisory groups and other organisations across Australia and internationally for over 20 years.
