Skill Keeps You Upright.
Roadcraft Keeps You Alive.
You love the ride – the freedom, the focus, the thrill. But staying alive out there? That takes more than passion.
- Every time a driver cuts you off.
- Every bend that tightens too soon.
- Every emergency stop that catches you off guard…
You’re reminded: riding a motorcycle isn’t just about skill.
It’s about survival!
PROGRAM DATES
Most crashes aren’t caused by hooning or recklessness.
They’re caused by common, preventable mistakes – ones even experienced riders make:
- 💥 Misjudging a corner
- 💥 Getting caught in a blind spot
- 💥 Late braking under pressure
- 💥 Fixating on the threat instead of the escape
- 💥 And of course, the classic: “Sorry mate, I didn’t see you.”
It’s not just an excuse – it’s neuroscience.
The human brain is wired to filter out what’s unfamiliar and unimportant. When drivers scan the road, they look through you, not at you. It’s called perceptual blindness – and it’s one of the biggest reasons riders end up in hospital.
But there’s a way to fight back. And we’ll teach you how!
It’s called Roadcraft!!
..and SMART Rider Academy is bringing both of its famous and award winning Roadcraft courses to Gympie over a single weekend.
These links will take you to the registration page for each individual day. Register for both days to do the complete program.
Here’s some helpful information about each day’s content.
The complete Roadcraft program is delivered across two days, with each day carefully designed to stand alone. You’ll gain substantial value from attending either day independently with no requirement to commit to both but completing both days will give you the most comprehensive learning experience.
You’ll ride away with sharper skills, greater confidence, and a new understanding of how to take control of the road — no matter what it throws at you.
What You’ll Learn
Each day can be completed independently of the other and you will gain plenty from participating on either day. Completing both days is recommended, but it is not a requirement.
Roadcraft 1 – March 21st
On this day you will learn the fundamental roadcraft skills that help every rider minimise those “OH S#!T” moments, ride with more confidence and enjoy riding more than ever. It’s road focused and road based training.
- It’s a great course for newer riders who have recently got their licence – it will consolidate and take what you learned in the Q-Ride licensing courses to another level.
- For experienced riders it’s a great refresher and a chance to shake out some of those “bad habits” we all develop.
In one day, you’ll upgrade the way you think, see, and ride – for life.
More information and registration details are here.
Advanced Roadcraft 2 – March 22nd
The Advanced Roadcraft 2 day steps everything up a gear! It’s a perfect next step if you’ve:
- completed one of our other courses, or
- have many years of riding and want to lift your riding skills – sometimes we just need that validation that we’re doing things right too!
We’ll revise some of the content from Roadcraft 1 but dig deeper into the strategies that help you identify risks (like other road users) before they become your problem.
You’ll refine your emergency braking and obstacle avoidance skills, improve your cornering confidence even more and develop more control of your ride.

You’ll finish each day not just a better rider, but a SMARTer one.
Who’s It For?
If you’ve got a current open, provisional or probationary RE or R licence, these courses are for you.
Whether you’ve been riding for 6 months or 60 years, this training will sharpen your instincts, build your confidence, and help you ride smarter and safer.
